NETWORK
!BASICS:
The island is equipped with an intranet, or Mermer. Upon receiving their device, characters will be asked to create a username that's then binded to their physical device. The Mermer network is capable of 1-1 communication (think DMs), and public network communication, vaguely similar to twitter. For private DMs, please create them and submit them as you would a PC. For public communications, please post them under the network subheader on the weekly log. All communications done in the public network are well, public, besides anonymous polls. Anon polls are posted on Tuesdays and Thursdays, by the network admin bot. Ostensibly, they're a way for vacationers to ask questions they might be too shy to ask about in public or a way to gauge public opinion on topics. In practice, we expect chaos. Anon polls can be submitted here.
U-PINION
Welcome, one and all, to your friendly neighborhood U-PINION device -- crafted from the finest of definitely-not-actual-avian's wings, direct from the Sungem's Last Resort to your fingertips! Your handy little flutterfriend comes equipped with protective wings over a perfectly portable screen and keyboard combo, and there's even a friendly little beak clip to keep the cover closed. Never again will you have to contend with a phone or tablet too big for your pocket. 🪶🪶🪶
(NOTE: Sungem's Peak is not responsible for the durability nor the longevity of the device, and certainly not any waterproof properties. Those who are millennials or later will recognize that this thing is in fact kind of retro, has a camera about as good as one of those cheap plastic disposable ones from the dollar store decades back and there is no video function. Alas. Also, the keys are tiny as heckie, but there's (rudimentary) text-to-speech for all your horribly autocorrected needs. On the bright, bright side, they come in all sorts of cute tropical colors and are semi-transparent, because that's fashionable (no).)
The U-PINION comes installed only with access to the network, a very simple notes program and what seems to be an extremely janky knock-off of Flappy Bird.
A very rudimentary voicemail box exists, limited to a max of 30 seconds.
