Thank you so much for modding this game, Lum!! You were
I also thought your Merlin was SOOOOO pitch perfect! Reading your meta in TLCR and especially on plurk after the fact, I really saw all the care and consideration you put into his perspective and relationship to people. I and Waltaquin were never not slightly suspicious of him while also finding him charming and funny. I only wish that I hadn't been distracted at the start of the game so i might have had more chances to go after him. I loved how his particular powerset played into the graveyard and into the revival mechanic for the end of the game, and it was great that his own perspective on the MMs drove a lot of discussion and tension between characters who had to make their own choices at endgame.
Thanks for having me as part of the game and for all of your hard work! Enjoy your much-deserved rest and I can't wait to see you next time!
Not sure what you were going to say in the midst of this part here but that's fine! \o/
I really do appreciate that you thought my Merlin was definitely in lines with characterization, especially given I definitely thought deeply about each and every single interaction Merlin had with each and every single person. I'm happy you enjoyed reading it as well since I get self-conscious about how deeply I dive into characters lmfao so the fact you were like OH THAT WAS GREAT was a good relief!!
Also, I'm always glad that people find him ICLY suspicious because that just means I'm really doing my job right! But, I was also very happy Walt found him to be quite charming; I do have some regrets about not being able to interact with Walt much. Anyway, I'm grateful you also found the rest of those aspects about him interesting as well.
And thank you for joining in the game to bringing along such an interesting character as well as exciting presence to Last Resort! Can't wait until we meet in another game, yep.

NAAAAAAAAAUR HOW EMBARRASSING!! Every time my brain getting up and walking away from the table mid-thought and then never returning to it is put on blast, I age another decade... I wish I'd caught this earlier because I'd probably remember more of what I had wanted to say, sob. BUT!! That first paragraph was supposed to be a whole of of mod gushing, so I know that there were things I wanted to say about how you set up and ran the graveyard and how fun it was to go check it out once it was unlocked. I just appreciate everything you contributed from the mod side, from keeping us in order in the Discord to making sure the dead had plenty of things to keep up with! I'm sorry I can't remember everything I was going to write before, but please know I appreciate your work helping out with modding so much!!
But yes!! I really did think that Merlin hit just the right sweet spot. That's way easier said than done in this kind of environment, too, because I think so many people are already like...primed to be like "SUSPICIOUS MERLIN!!!" and "SUSPICIOUS MAN IN GRAVEYARD???" and yet it always felt like the perfect balance of "performative" kindness and genuine interest - never too much even though we and our characters are like hardwired to squint at strange mystical men.
Next time you play him I'll hopefully get the chance to jump all over him!! Points to eyes, points to you. Soon.
