Nona being attracted to her looks is perfectly expected, but loving her even before she put in all the work to look so much better? That has to be a lie, because who would ever love her looking like that - her experiences told her as much.
Their relationship was honestly a great irony because Nona was offering the one thing Kanon wanted most, but Kanon's self-esteem is too shit for her to believe in unconditional love haha. By the end, she was finally getting used to Nona's oddness somewhat, and even (very very very slightly) accepting that love... There's still a long journey ahead of her, but she might just begin dipping her toes into music or other things she used to be like before she took on her current persona.
